How Betty handles your personal information
Updated September 28, 2026
Running a regulated casino means holding a fair amount of information about the people who play with us. This notice explains what that information is, why we collect it, who else sees it and what control you have over it. It covers this website and your Betty account, and it applies to you from any province you sign in from.
The organization responsible for your information is Betty Gaming. We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's federal privacy law for private businesses, together with the record-keeping rules that come with our Ontario registration.
What we collect
Most of what we hold comes directly from you. Some of it is created as you use your account, and a small part comes from outside services we rely on to meet our legal duties.
Details you give us
- Your name, date of birth, home address, email address and the password you choose.
- Copies of the documents you send for verification: a government photo ID and a proof of address.
- Anything you write to us by email or in live chat.
Details created while you play
- Deposits, withdrawals, bets, wins, bonus activity and your balance history.
- The limits, reminders, time-outs and self-exclusions you set, and when you set them.
- Location data from the geolocation check that runs before each real-money session.
- Technical information about your device and connection, such as browser type and IP address.
Details from other sources
When you register, an identity service checks your details against trusted records. Payment providers tell us whether a transaction went through. Where a provincial or regulatory self-exclusion list applies in Ontario, we check against it too.
Why we need it
We collect information for specific purposes and do not keep adding new ones quietly. The main ones are:
- Opening and running your account, including processing deposits and withdrawals.
- Confirming your identity and age, as Ontario rules require before anyone plays or cashes out.
- Confirming your location, so real-money play happens only inside Ontario.
- Preventing fraud, money laundering and the misuse of bonuses.
- Supporting safer play, for example by noticing patterns that suggest someone may be struggling and reaching out.
- Answering your messages and handling complaints.
- Sending you offers, but only if you agreed to receive them.
For most of these, the law requires us to process the information, so we cannot run your account without it. Marketing is different. It depends on your consent and you can turn it off at any time.
A closer look at location data
Because our site is built around signing in from different provinces, location deserves its own paragraph. Our geolocation check looks at where your device is when you start a real-money session. We record the result, including the date and the approximate place, because our regulator may ask us to show that each wager came from inside Ontario.
When you sign in from Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba or another place, we still see an approximate location. We use it to decide which parts of the account are available to you. We do not track your movements in the background between sessions, and we do not sell location data to anyone.
Who else sees your information
We share personal information only where there is a clear reason, and only as much as that reason needs.
- Service providers who work for us: identity verification, geolocation, payment processing, customer support tools and secure hosting. They may use your data only to provide that service.
- Game suppliers, who receive the game data needed to run and settle each round, without your contact details.
- The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and iGaming Ontario, when regulation or an audit requires it.
- Law enforcement and financial authorities, when Canadian law obliges us to report or respond.
Some providers may handle information outside Ontario or outside Canada. When that happens, their contracts with us require protection comparable to what you would get here, and the information can still be accessed by authorities in that country under local law. We never sell your personal information.
How long we keep it
We keep your information for as long as your account is open and then for the period that gaming and anti-money-laundering rules set for records of this kind. When that period ends, we delete it or make it anonymous. Marketing preferences go the moment you withdraw consent, although we keep a note that you opted out so we do not contact you again by mistake.
Self-exclusion records are handled with extra care. We keep them for as long as the exclusion lasts, and sometimes longer where the rules require it, because their whole purpose is to stop a new account being opened.
Keeping it safe
Your account data travels over encrypted connections, and access inside our company is limited to staff who need it for their job. Verification documents are stored separately from ordinary account data. No system is perfect, though. Should a breach ever put you at serious risk, you will hear it from us directly, and we will report it to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, as PIPEDA requires.
You play a part here as well. A strong, unique password and a signed-out session on shared devices go a long way. We will never ask for your password by email or in live chat.
Your choices and rights
Under PIPEDA you can:
- ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
- ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date;
- withdraw consent to marketing, and to any other use that relies on consent;
- ask how your information was used and who received it.
Some requests have limits. We cannot delete records that the law tells us to keep, and withdrawing consent for something the account depends on may mean closing it. When that applies, we explain it rather than just saying no.
To make a request, email our privacy team from the address linked to your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, so that nobody else can get hold of your data. We aim to reply within 30 days, and if we need longer we will tell you why.
Still not satisfied after our reply? The Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada takes complaints about how businesses handle personal data.
Marketing messages
We only send promotional emails if you ticked the box to receive them. Each one has an unsubscribe link, and you can also change the setting inside your Betty account. Messages about your account itself, such as a verification request or a change to our terms, are not marketing and will still reach you.
If you take a time-out or self-exclude, all promotional messages stop for the whole period, even if you had opted in earlier.
People under 19
Betty is not for anyone under 19, and we do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we close it and delete what we are allowed to delete.

Changes and contact
If we change how we handle personal information, we update this page and the date shown on it. Bigger changes are announced by email before they apply. Questions about privacy go to our privacy team. For everything else, our contact page lists the right route.
